Museum of Natural History

The trip to the museum was very intresting..because I havent been to one since i was like 12...however it was a great learning experience. Although it was tiring it was very fun. I did have pics but my wack phone wont allow me to email them.

The Exhibit that my group(Tianna and myself) decided to focus on was the "African Peoples."

We chose to do "African Peoples", because we felt connected to the exhibit in a way. When we entered the exhibit everything was so powerful from the colors, costumes and figures that were shown in the installations.

The installation that struck me the most was "Pokot Women." This installation focused on the Pokot women in Africa and their lifestyle.

Logos: During puberty the pokot women undergo a clitoridectomy in public to show there strength and there new found status as women.

Ethos: There were several items shown in the installation. many which represents their culture. There was sets of clothing and beads, these sets represented the different age group of the women. Every stage wore different things to separate them from each other. The knife that was used in there public show was also present.

Pathos: After reading and viewing this installation I did in someway feel sympathetic, but thats the way of life that they have to live and that they are accustomed too

In reviewing my information that i gathered, i feel that i can make an effort in "going green" in the following areas.
Instead of getting my hair done every week, i will get it done once every two weeks: by doing this i will help saving energy and also reduce the amount of CFC'S that I use.
I will encourage my parents to start recyeling, this will reduce the vast amount of trash that is being thrown away without being reused.
Try to reuse my beverage bottles, which will contribute to going green.
I will also try and use one notebook for the entire skool year which will help save more trees.

for this particular blog, in which we had to weigh our trash for 48 hours i had a total weigh of 3 pounds for the duration of two days...so in a year my total weight of garbage will be 547.5 pounds.. That is a huge amount of trash.. so if everyone is dumping that amount of trash on the earth and isnt recyeling, it can and will become a big problem.

Here is a list of everything that i carry around in my bag...
notebook( the paper is recyclable) 2 ink pens. my wallet, the money (dollars and change)is resusable. The plastic that i have in my wallet is recyclable; such as ID cards,(plastic) house keys,(metal) textbooks(paper). When i go home i usually eat snacks which come in plastic packaging, everyday when i go home i eat cool ranch doritos and a revive vitamin water all of which is recyclable.
When moms cook most of the food comes in either plastic or cans, the drinks are usually in bottles. My family doesnt recycle, but im trying to convince my mom that when she dont, shes just contributing to the demolishing of the earth.

In reseraching the global impact that we have on waste, a study shows that the most widespread problem associated with dumps is acid drainage. Acid drainage can have a huge impact on the productivity of ecosystems. There is also a low supply of healthy water in the continent of africa due to a study shown by the BP
